Reminders

  • Please do not touch the butterflies! Our hands contain oils that damage butterfly wings, which can inhibit flying. If they can't fly, they can't eat. Please be respectful of these beautiful creatures.
  •  No food or drink permitted inside showroom! Water is permitted, but no other beverages or food can be brought in for the safety of our butterflies. 
  • No flowers/plants of any kind! Whether real or artificial, no flowers of any kind can be brought into the showroom. Per USDA regulations, we must be very specific about what is allowed inside with the butterflies.
  • Please supervise children closely. For their safety, and the safety of the butterflies, we ask to please keep a close eye on your children and make sure they are not grabbing butterflies or climbing on rocks, side walls, furniture, or inside flower beds.

We encourage you to be on time! 

Tickets are sold by the hour. The hour you purchase tickets for is the slot in which you have to enter the showroom with the butterflies. Entry to Krohn will not be permitted prior to this time. Late entry will result in less time with the butterflies. All guests will be asked to start exiting the butterfly showroom prior to the next hour time slot. If on time, guests will have a maximum of 45 minutes in the showroom with the butterflies.


Don't miss the Gift Shop!

Once you exit the showroom at the end of your allotted timeslot, we recommend taking your time visiting the Bonsai Room, Gift Shop, Orchid and Desert Houses, since you will not be able to return to that end of the Conservatory once you exit. However, you are more than welcome to return to the entrance and leisurely stroll through the Fern and Palm houses.  

Purchase your tickets online to guarantee entry!

There is a limited number of tickets available per day. A small number of tickets per time slot will be available at the door for purchase but are sold on a first come first serve basis. Tickets are sold by the hour. Entry to the showroom with the butterflies will begin at the top of every hour.  

We welcome field trips and school groups of all types!

 We are able to schedule field trips/school groups on most Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the year from 9am to 10am. Please select the date you are interested in. If we don't have a date that works for you, please note that in the 'other information' box. Once you fill out all of your information and hit submit, we will have someone contact you to accommodate your request and work out the details of your trip. Please include as much information as possible, as this will help speed up the process. Please allow up to 48 hours for someone to contact you. Please be sure to indicate the number of students and teachers/chaperones in your group. If paying with a credit card, feel free to check out and pay now. If there are other details you need to work out or intend to pay with cash/check/P.O., check the 'Pre-Register' option.

When filling out the billing information you must check 'Pre-Register' so you are not charged. If paying by credit card, you have the option to check out now, or to return to this site once you've spoken with our education specialist and details have been confirmed. If paying by cash, check, or P.O., our education specialist will discuss how that payment is to be made.

  • I give permission for myself and/or members of my group to be photographed and/or recorded during program activities. I authorize the use of such recordings/photographs, without identification or compensation, in Cincinnati Parks publications and media.
  • I understand that all fees are non-refundable and cannot be reduced due to partial attendance.
  • In the event this program is canceled, Cincinnati Parks will make every effort to notify patrons via email, time permitting. While every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience, Cincinnati Parks is not responsible for any costs or damages incurred due to cancellation.
